Eva Mendes chose to be the perfect Barbie for her Ken. During an appearance on the Today show the actress reveals the reason she chooses to discontinue her acting career for raising a family with husband Ryan Gosling. Mendes and the Barbie star have been together since they met and fell in love while filming the 2012 film The Place Beyond the Pines. Although they hadn’t appeared publicly much they proved to be each other’s biggest cheerleaders in every occasion. Let’s check out the entire details of this story.
Eva Mendes consider herself lucky to have this time with her children
The 50-year-old actress said of her career, “It was like a no-brainer. [And I was like], I’m so lucky if I could have this time with my children.”
The actress shares two daughters, Esmeralda Amada Gosling, 9, and Amada Lee Gosling, 7 with Gosling.
Moreover, she explained she still works without being part of acting as “acting takes you on location. It takes you away.”
“It was almost just like a non-verbal agreement that it was like, ‘OK, he’s going to work and I’m going to work. I’m just going to work here,'” Mendes adds. “He went and he did his job. He just happens to be really good at his job. And he did it and he came home.”
Later on, she recalls the moment their time together filming The Place Beyond the Pines, “I have never experienced anything like that. The way he works, his commitment to his craft, how he wants to make everything as best as it could be, and that means making his co-stars as best as they could be… But unfortunately, or fortunately, there is only one Ryan. So I pretty much stopped just acting after that.”
Without any doubt the former actress has been the biggest support system for her partner as she shut down criticism over Ryan’s Oscar nomination.
“So proud of my man,” Mendes wrote of the 43-year-old actor at that time. “So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars.”
