Eva Mendes thinks she is not made for the showbiz.
In an interview with The Times published in October 17 the former actress reflected the reason she believes she is not made for Hollywood. From being typecast to be Cuban-American to not getting good roles, Mendes revealed the reason for not getting a long time in the entertainment portal. However, she didn’t blame the industry either. Leaving the industry in 2014 Mendes now enjoys her last life as a full-time mom of her longtime love Ryan Reynolds’s daughters Esmeralda, 10 and Amada, 8. Let’s check out the complete details of Eva’s interview.
Eva Mendes said she was never in love with acting
The 50-year-old told the news portal, “I was never in love with acting. I don’t mean this in a self-deprecating way, but I wasn’t a great actress. I had my moments when I worked with really great people.”
Mendes revealed how for her Cuban-American ethnicity she often gets one dimensional roles.
“There were some pretty sh–ty roles,” The Place Beyond the Pines actress recalled, “That’s all they would say at the beginning—’she’s too ethnic for this, too ethnic for that.’ It was so crazy. That was the constant note.”
Moreover, the mother-of-two who went to rehab in 2008 believes the Hollywood lifestyle isn’t good for her although she didn’t blame the industry either.
“I feel like with my kind of spirit I’d have found unhealthy behaviors anywhere,” she noted. “I was so hungry for life. I still am. But I was leaving no stone unturned. I was like, ‘What’s over here? What’s over here?’”
Despite having a bad experience in showbiz Eva is still open for a comeback with her longtime love Ryan Gosling with whom she shared screen in 2011 movie The Place Beyond the Pines.
As she puts in, “That’s the one thing I would love to do. He gets something out of me that’s never been accessible before.”
Alongwith being a full-time mom she also helps her love Ryan for his movies, for instance the 2023 blockbuster Barbie.
“I would just simplify everything,” Eva said. “I’m like, ‘Just make Barbie notice you. That’s what Ken is all about.’ So then there was this desperation. He really loved that. I’d remind him, as he’s literally walking out the door, ‘Make Barbie notice you, make Barbie fall in love with you.’”
