Get ready to make your Fridays Freakier!
On October 11 the popular entertainment company finally unveiled the release of the much-anticipated Freaky Friday sequel Freakier Friday. Starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis reprising their respective roles of daughter-mother duo Anna and Tess this sequel has retained immense excitement within it. The news comes a month after Lindsay and Jamie officially announced the name of the second installment. To announce the news Disney shared a photo of the leads recreating their iconic pose of screaming while having hands on their cheeks. Here’s the complete details about the segment.

The entertainment company writes on its social media pages alongwith a picture”TGIF. #FreakierFriday arrives in theaters August 8, 2025.”
The picture features the recreation of the famous body-shifting scene where Linsday and Jamie Lee, tapped into their characters Anna and Tess as they realized “we seemed to have switched bodies.”
This latest update comes three months after Chad Michael Murray announced to be reprising his role as Anna’s motorcycle riding, Britney Spears singing, crush, Jake (who’s Jake).
On July 18 Disney wrote on Instagram, “Jake is back, baby. The sequel of Freaky Friday is coming to theaters 2025.”
Alongside Jamie Lee, Lindsay, and Chad the movie will also feature Christina Vidal Mitchell and Haley Hudson who will play Anna’s besties and Pink Slip bandmates, Maddie and Peg.
Apart from them, Tess’ husband Ryan played by Mark Harmon, Anna’s teacher Mr. Bates played by Stephen Tobolowsky, and Chinese restaurateurs Pei-Pei and her mom played by Rosalind Chao and Lucille Soong will also return in their respective roles.
The sequel which is releasing after 20 years of the original movie is helmed by Canadian-American director Nisha Ganatra who will replace Mark Waters.
This second installment which promises a “multigenerational twist” has noted in its June press release, “The film picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.”
For now, mark your calendars on August 18 to witness the movie in the theatres.
