The promo of SonyLIV’s upcoming series, ‘Freedom At Midnight’ is finally out now. The promising series will take us back to the time before India became free at the stroke of the midnight hour. Adapted from the best-selling novel by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins with the same name the series also delves into events of the partition of India and Pakistan.
Abhinandan Gupta, Adwitiya Kareng Das, Gundeep Kaur, Divya Nidhi Sharma, Revanta Sarabhai, and Ethan Taylor serve as the scriptwriters of the show. In the short video shared by the makers, they tend to give the essence of this show depicting the glorious event. However, the release of this historical venture hasn’t been unveiled yet. ‘Freedom At Midnight’ promo was released on July 30
On July 30, the makers unveiled the promo with the caption reading, “The history you may not know The history you should know. Presenting the first drop of the electrifying story of India’s independence, based on the award-winning book by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins. ‘Freedom At Midnight’ streaming soon on Sony LIV (sic).”
The video shows the moment Gandhiji handed over a letter to nominations withdrawn to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel after getting majority votes from the party members to become the President of the Indian National Congress. The president who eventually was chosen became the First Prime Minister of independent India. However, instead of opting for the role he proposed the name of Jawaharlal Nehru as his replacement.
Starcast of the Freedom At Midnight
The show features a promising talented star cast which includes Sidhant Gupta as Jawaharlal Nehru, Chirag Vohra as Mahatma Gandhi, Arif Zakaria as Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Ira Dubey as Fatima Jinnah, Luke McGibney as Lord Louis Mountbatten, Cordelia Bugeja as Lady Edwina Mountbatten, Malishka Mendonsa as Sarojini Naidu, Rajesh Kumar as Liaquat Ali Khan, KC Shankar as V.P. Menon, Alistair Finlay as Archibald Wavell, Andrew Cullum as Clement Attlee, Richard Teverson as Cyril, Chirag Vohra as Mahatma Gandhi, Rajendra Chawla as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Richard Teverson as Cyril Radcliffe.
