The Indian rapper Sooraj Cherukat aka Hanumankind has rapidly risen up as a standout phenomenon in the country’s hip-hop scene. This rising superstar not only won the hearts of the audience but also briefly outplaced global sensation Kendrick Lamar’s diss track Not Like Us. Sadly there are only a few people who know about the talented musician’s life and journey. Thanks to the massive success of the single ‘Big Dawgs’ for putting him on the map. Hence without any further ado let’s dig into the complete details of this breakthrough single.

Looking back at the life and journey of Hanumankind

Born in the southern Indian state of Kerala, Cherukat always followed a strong devotion for hip-hop music. The musician later shifted to multiple places in the world including France, Nigeria, Egypt, and Dubai because of his father’s job in a leading oil company.

Later on, he spent his later years in Houston, Texas in order to shape his musical career.

Earning a business degree he has worked at firms like Goldman Sachs before realising his passion for the music world. After discovering his passion the rapper quit his job to pursue a full-time rapping career.

The rapper’s path towards success

Hanumankind finally got the deserved recognition with his single ‘Big Dawgs’ that helped him to make his mark on the global scale.

Collaborating with producer Kalmi Reddy and director Bijoy Shetty, this music video of the song has earned over 132 million streams on Spotify and 83 million views on YouTube since its July release becoming a ladder to rising global fame.

The song features hip-hop templates showcasing the hard-edged stories of street life with his relatable lyrics and authentic prose.

On top of that, the song perfectly showcases the rapper’s initiative of depicting his distinct identities.

Influenced by Texas hip-hop legends such as DJ Screw, UGK, Big Bunny, and Project Pat he always reflects his cosmopolitan identity and reconnects with his Indian roots.

However, his success also comes with some drawbacks as some international listeners struggle to accept his Indian heritage because he is not living up to the expectations.

Beating the odds the South Asian rapper is now working immensely hard to achieve and establish himself as a top artist in the industry.
