Vijay Varma and Naseeruddin Shah are all set to make their magnificent mark in the upcoming web series ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’. Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha is going to make his OTT debut in this historical series. On 3rd August, Netflix released the teaser of the much-anticipated series. The story of this series is inspired by the real-life incident of 1999 where hijackers kept 176 passengers of the IC-814 aircraft hostage for seven long days. The one-minute teaser started with the Indian passengers all set to take off from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, to take a flight to Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Playing the role of the captain in the plan Vijay Varma as captain Sharan Dev begins a safe journey. However, their journey seems to have unexpected consequences after five masked militants hijack the flight, putting Sharan at gunpoint. The hostiles also started assaulting the air hostess, creating immense fear among everyone on board.
The caption of the post noted, “188 onboard, and the entire nation held at gunpoint. Based on true events – IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, a limited series, arrives on August 29, only on Netflix!”
The star cast of the movie included talented actors like Vijay Varma, Pankaj Kapur, Naseeruddin Shah, Dia Mirza, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Pooja Gor, Kanwaljit Singh, Amrita Puri, Yashpal Sharma, Aditya Srivastava, Manoj Pahwa, Patralekha Paul, Kumud Mishra, and others.
As per the plotline, the six-episode series is inspired by the real-life incident of hijacking where 176 passengers were kept hostage for seven days at the IC-814 aircraft. The horrific operation has been conducted by Pakistan’s military intelligence, ISI.
The synopsis of the story reads, “It follows a relentless team in India racing against time, deciphering the hijackers’ ominous demands, and fighting against the odds to ensure the safe return of everyone on board”.
Featuring the story of terror, crisis, and heroism as it shows the fear faced by passengers and crew trapped at 30,000 feet by the hostile terrorists.
‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ will start streaming on Netflix on August 29.
