India faces a heartbreaking exit from the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 ahead of the semis. Although the girls lost to Australia on Sunday after a heart-heading match there’s still a little hope for them if Pakistan gains a victory from New Zealand. However, after yesterday’s match Pakistan was ruled out of the game after facing a hard defeat from the one-time champions ending India’s journey as well. Needless to say, it’s exceptionally disappointing for the Indian fans since there’s been immense hope for them after the incredible performance in the 2024 Asia Cup. Let’s check out the complete highlights of the India vs Australia and New Zealand vs Pakistan match.

With an incredible fielding and bowling attack Pakistan managed to restrict New Zealand to 110/6. Despite having a small target of 111 they couldn’t manage to survive the counter attack making the team bowl out in just 56 with captain Fatima Sana scoring a knock of 21.

After this dominating victory, New Zealand joins Australia in the semis of Group A having two points more than the women in blue.

Meanwhile, in the match of India vs Australia, the former won the toss and opted to bowl first. Despite starting on a positive note by claiming two wickets in the powerplay the Aussies showed their resilience as Ellyse Perry and Tahlia McGrath scored 32 runs each ending the innings in 151.

At their time the Indian woman fails to chase the target becoming shorter of 9 runs. Despite the incredible knock of Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (54*) fellow batsman Jemimah Rodrigues, and openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana failed to deliver a decent performance.

Moreover, the sloppy fielding gifted the opposition an additional 10-15 runs which later proved costly for them. Apart from that, the rotating position of Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur created immense confusion along with the inclusion of injured Pooja Vastrakar.

Eventually, due to some wrong decisions like last season, India exited the tournament before reaching the finals. Interestingly, it was Australia who set them home last season as well from the semis.

Needless to say, with this defeat Indian women’s ICC trophy drought didn’t seem to get over soon.
