The venue of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is finally revealed. After the original host of the major sports event in Bangladesh was ruled out there has been a lot of buzz regarding who would be the next potential host. Finally, the wait is over and ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice unveiled the name of the new host in a statement on 20th August. This much-awaited cricket event will occur in the UAE’s two venues, Dubai and Sharjah. However, the schedule will be the same, from 3 to 20 October. Let’s dive into all the details of the statement.

The statement of the chief executive reads, “ It is a shame not to be hosting the Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh as we know the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) would have staged a memorable event.”
Allardice also expressed his anticipation of seeing Bangladesh in this role for the upcoming years.
The statement continues, “I would like to thank the team at the BCB for exploring all avenues to try and enable the event to be hosted in Bangladesh, but travel advisories from the governments of a number of the participating teams meant that wasn’t feasible. However, they will retain hosting rights. We look forward to taking an ICC global event to Bangladesh in the near future.”
Moreover, the ICC federation also expressed their gratitude to the Emirates Cricket Board for taking up the responsibility, as the statement continues, “I’d also like to thank the Emirates Cricket Board for stepping in to host on behalf of the BCB and Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe for their generous offers of support, and we look forward to seeing ICC global events in both of those countries in 2026.”
Countries to take part in Women’s T20 World Cup 2024
In the 2024 event 10 counties including Bangladesh, Australia, England, India, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, Pakistan, Scotland, and Sri Lanka are the potential participants.
Home to the ICC headquarters, UAE has. become a significant location in cricket in recent years. In 2021, it will also host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with Oman.
