Director Shankar and actor Kamal Haasan’s highly anticy sequel Indian 2 was officially scheduled to hit the theatres next month in June 2024. Lyca Productions who will serve as the producer of this much-awaited film revealed that the movie will be postponed to July 2024. The buzz is getting higher in the Tamil film industry regarding the movie suggesting that release postponed news of Indian 2 is yet to be officially announced.
Previously, while announcing the film, legendary actor Kamal Haasan who will play the protagonist in the movie shared the poster and wrote in the caption: “Gear up for the comeback of Senapathy! INDIAN-2 🇮🇳 is all set to storm in cinemas this JUNE. Mark your calendar for the epic saga!”
Moreover, during an interview with The Hindu, he first shared the news of wrapping the shooting of this movie. “I can’t make up for the lost time. Also, we cannot speed up production as the quantity doesn’t matter, quality does. We have completed Indian 2 and Indian 3. The post-production work of Indian 2 is currently happening. We will start work on Indian 3 post-production after we finish it,” the 69-year-old added.
Hassan will be accompanied by a superb talented star cast including Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Vivekh, Kajal Agarwal, SJ Suryah, Bobby Simha, Brahmanandam, Samuthirakani, Nedumudi Venu, Delhi Ganesh, Manobala, Jagan, Kalidas Jayaram and Gulshan Grover who will seen in pivotal roles.
The film is the official remake of the 1996 film of the same name. The story revolves around the iconic character Senapathy, a freedom fighter who turns vigilante to fight corruption. Haasan will reprise his role as Senapathy. In the first venture “Indian” movie we see Haasan in dual roles, as both a father and his son. On April 6, the makers finally unveiled the poster of this much anticipated action-packed thriller. In the poster Kamal’s character as a man with greying hair dressed in white shirt and a vesthi with his hands are tied in handcuffs dressed in the vibrant bright yellow and orange while some back figures are barely showing in the background.
The superstar was last seen in and gained enormous recognition and critical acclaim from 2022 film Vikram. Needless to say, the delay will be an enormous disappointment for the fans.
