Indian Idol is back with the 15th season with the promise to give the music industry the most incredible young talent in India. While the auditions are taking over in full fledge, a new singer’s entry is making the audience and the judge’s head turn. If you’re wondering who the young talent is, it’s playback singer Ram Shankar’s daughter Sneha Shankar. Although it’s still unclear if she has gotten the golden ticket or not. Let’s check out how her time was in the audience.
The details of Sneha Shankar’s Indian Idol audition
Coming from a musical family in Mumbai Sneha’s grandfather is the late Shree Shankarji who an acclaimed Sufi singer sang as part of a duo with his brother, the late Shree Shambhuji.
They together formed a timeless legacy by establishing themselves as “Shankar Shambhu Qawwal”.
Moreover, her father Ram Shankar was also a prominent singer and music producer who is working in the Indian film industry.
When the 18-year-old entered the competition the judges praised her for the performance, however, judge Vishal Dadlani didn’t agree with her song selection as he wanted her to try other genres other than Sufi.
However, Badshah was impressed by the singer’s performance and praised her saying, “I have never heard you before, but when you sang today and I got to know about your legacy, I would like to say you chose a really good song. You look like Ram Shankar Ji’s daughter, but it also feels like you will take his legacy forward.”
The rapper added, “Honestly when Vishal sir commented on your performance, I got scared thinking something was wrong with me because I was blown away! We need a performer who sings like this. But as Vishal sir said, it would be good for you if you learn this now: Imagine there is a line where on one side there is safety, comfort, and greatness.”
He continues,”The closer you get to comfort, the further you get from greatness, and the closer you go to greatness, you will have to move away from comfort. This is your comfort zone, and you can do really good here, but you can be great, and you have everything to become great. I know this is Indian Idol and you come from the Shankar Legacy, but if not you, then who will do it?”
Indian Idol 15 will premiere every Saturday and Sunday at 9 PM.
