Jasprit Bumrah is Ready To Lead India in the First Test in Perth for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Jasprit Bumrah is ready to give India a fresh start in the first test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. 

While gearing up for their disappointing series loss against New Zealand after 12 years at home the team is trying hard for a comeback. The team’s comeback is incredibly needed for their qualification in the ICC World Test Championship final in 2024-2025. In a recent press conference ahead of the first test on 22nd November, Friday the new Indian skipper opened up the team’s expectations with the upcoming series.

In the pre-match press conference here on 21st November, Jasprit who is replacing Rohit Sharma from the capacity as he’s unavailable due to the birth of his second child. 

“The beauty of our cricket is even if you win, you start from zero, even if you lose, you start from zero, so that’s how I look at the game,” said Bumrah. “We won the World Cup but that does not mean that we became complacent in other series (against New Zealand)…,.”

The 30-year-old added of the being whitewashed by NZ: “Yes, we were disappointed (with the result against NZ) and we were down that we had a tough series last time around, but we are not carrying baggages. We come with a fresh mindset against a different opposition in different conditions.”

For now the team is in front of a bigger challenge as they have to win the series in order to qualify in the WTC final. Apart from playing in the condition of Perth, it could be quite challenging for the outsiders.

Talking about their process of adaptability Bumrah noted, “We are very well prepared because we came here early, we got some time to spend at WACA, and a lot of the youngsters are coming here for the first time, But when we came here in the first time as well, we got less time than this, and we ended up winning the series.”

“Yes, we always believe and have confidence in our side, whenever we play, whatever the situation might be. Now it’s all about being mentally switched on,” he added.

It’s only a matter of time now to witness the men in blue can seal the victory in the first under the captaincy of the new skipper.
