Jenna Ortega is speaking out about the facts. The Wednesday star who heated up dating rumors with actor Johnny Depp back in 2023 turned down its validity. During a recent interview with the BuzzFeed Celeb published on August 26 Ortega called the rumors insane and noted that they even have a personal relationship. The speculations of their romance started to fuel up last year as the duo were seen out together supposedly working on the Beetlejuice sequel. Jenna Ortega said don’t know she doesn’t know Johnny Depp
The 21-year-old actress said of dating the 61-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actor, that she “wanted everybody to leave us alone.”
“I don’t know that person,” Jenna shared. “It’s so insane to me. I never spoke on that. I never said anything like that.”
Moreover, she also recalled a conversation with co-star Richard E. Grant at the set of Death of a Unicorn, where he asked how things are going between the two. To which Jenna responded, “I laughed because I don’t know that person.”
Previously the actress also slammed the claims on her Instagram Stories shortly after the news started to heat up.
“This is so ridiculous I can’t even laugh,” she wrote. “I have never met or worked with Johnny Depp in my life. Please stop spreading lies and leave us alone.”
Meanwhile, the Alice in Wonderland actor also shut down the speculations with his spokesperson telling the NME.
The statement reads, “Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever.”
“He has never met her or spoken to her,” it continued. “He is not involved in any project with her, nor does he intend to be. He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumors that are intended to harm his reputation and career.”
Jenna, who plays the daughter of Lydia (Winona Ryder) in the new Beetlejuice sequel, is now focusing on the more important facts of her life, which is the upcoming film.
“It’s been incredible,” she said of the film during an interview.”To be a part of something like Beetlejuice that has been so influential on me as a person and also so many people—it’s too much to comprehend.”
