Jennifer Lopez Shared Insights on Her and Ben Affleck’s 2003 Split

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck got Off The Floor in 2003 days after walking down the aisle. Lopez who tied the knot decades after their shocking breakup finally shed light to her much publicized split. She even revealed them three days before calling. J.Lo recalled the moment in her new documentary The Greatest Love Story Never off the wedding. 

After their separation they supposedly moved on while Jennifer got married twice and even welcomed 16-year-old twins Max and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony. While Affleck welcomed kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 11, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. However, the couple was destined to be together and rekindle their romance in 2021 they got married in 2022. Let’s find out what the songstress has revealed.

Jennifer Lopez said she and Ben Affleck just crumbled under the pressure 

“Ben and I, we broke up three days before our wedding,” the 54-year-old  said in the documentary. “We had a big wedding planned—14 ushers and bridesmaids—and three days before, we just crumbled under the pressure.”

Moreover, the “Mother” actress said of their time apart,”For all those years, it was really hard because I didn’t just feel like I lost the love of my life, I felt like I lost the best friend that I ever had, And I couldn’t talk for so many years, and that was the hardest part.”

Although she was “angry” at her now husband “But that heartbreak set both of us on a course to figuring ourselves out to being better people.”

However, Lopez had found peace after letting go of both Ben and herself for their past issues. 

As she put in,”I feel like I came out the other side, I’ve made it through. I’ve made something good of my life. I’m proud of of that.”

It isn’t only time she talked about her split in an interview with Variety she said, “Our relationship crumbled under the weight of the pressure. We lost a sense of ourselves, and we needed to separate because we didn’t know how to survive it. I had to figure myself out, and he had to figure himself out.”

In 2003, after the break-up the couple released a joint statement, saying, “Due to the excessive media attention surrounding our wedding, we have decided to postpone the date.”

The statement added,”When we found ourselves seriously contemplating hiring three separate ‘decoy brides’ at three different locations, we realized that something was awry. We felt what should have been a joyful and sacred day could be spoiled for us, our families and our friends.”
