Jodie Turner-Smith publicly addressed her divorce with Joshua Jackson. The couple who tied the knot in 2019 ended their marriage after three years in October 2023 when Turner-Smith filed. The couple even welcomed a 3-year-old daughter Juno Rose Diana Jackson in 2020. In an interview with The Times in a new interview published on Sunday the actress shed light on her split. The 37-year-old told the outlet, “Sometimes things we really want to work just don’t end up working,” said Turner-Smith. “And that’s OK. The most important thing is that you choose what’s healthiest for you and your family and definitely your children.”
Moreover, the Queen & Slim star also offered some relationship if they’re truly living out their most authentic lives.
She continues, “If the answer is no, then you have to make a move because I believe that there are visible scars from staying in places that are not good for us. And they don’t just affect us, they affect everybody around us.”
However she doesn’t believe that her relationship with Joshua isn’t a failure. As she said,”I don’t think it’s a failure.”
“We obviously had such a beautiful moment together,” the actor added.”And now it’s time for a new moment for both of us. And how exciting! The bravest thing in the world is to recognize when something’s not working and to make a move, and I always want to set that kind of example for my daughter.”
The actress ended by saying,”The big takeaway is that this is about just as much love and joy as it has always been. This is only about taking a step forward into a better life for everybody involved.”
As per the court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight, the former couple’s separation was dated September 13, 2023.
The source said at the time”hectic work schedules started to weigh on their relationship starting over a year ago when they were both filming projects and not always in the same place.”
After their divorce the 40-year-old has seemingly moved on with Lupita Nyong’o whom he met at a Janelle Monáe concert in Los Angeles.
The source told of their relationship at the time, “Joshua and Lupita are enjoying spending time together. Things are still new, but they have a fun and flirtatious vibe with each other. Their friends are not surprised that they’ve connected.”
As for Turner-Smith, she attended the Casamigos’ Halloween Party last October in Los Angeles in the arms of a mystery man.
Moreover, a source also reported how she felt about her ex’s new romance. “Jodie isn’t giving Joshua’s dating life too much attention,” the source added. “She’s doing great and has been surrounding herself with people who are loyal and love her. She has always had a positive, fun energy and is continuing to. She’s focused on work and being the best mom she can be.”
