John Abraham’s new film ‘Vedaa’ continues its under box-office performance. Despite receiving a positive response from the critics, the film seems to stand no chance against Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Stree 2.’ In an interview with Radio City, the actor revealed although the film didn’t live up to the expectations he is still proud of his character. Previously director Nikkhil Advani also joked about the success of Stree 2 noting the only thing he’d change was to make the blockbuster a ‘bad film.’ Let’s dig into the entire details of this segment.
John Abraham said he is proud of making a very good film
‘Vedaa’ was released on the auspicious day of 15th August the Indian Independence Day making a three-way clash with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Khel Khel Main’ and Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Stree 2.’ Amongst the three films ‘Stree 2’ totally outshine the other two. However, ‘Vedaa’ did receive a positive response from the critics.
Despite not living up to the expectations, the lead actor of the movie also seems to be positive about the action-thriller.
John said of the movie, “It’s a brave film to do. I wanted to work with Nikkhil again after Batla House. Honestly, more than success and failure, it’s the message that you’re sharing via your film that’s more important. We’ve told it in an entertaining way, but there’s no getting around the fact that the subject is heavy. And if people aren’t interested in watching films with heavy subjects, that’s their choice. I respect it. But you have to face the subject at the end of the day.”
The actor added, “I’m very proud that we made a very good film. This is possibly Nikkhil and my best work together. Often, there’s regret when your film doesn’t work commercially. You feel bad. Usually, it stems from uncertainty about the film itself.”
He explained, “But with Vedaa, we’ve got practically everything right. Our cast has performed brilliantly, every department, from cinematography to action, has done well. People will find things to complain about with the screenplay, and that’s fine. We respect everybody’s point of view. But I’m proud we’ve made a good film.”
Vedaa has collected around Rs 20 crore at the box office so far.
Apart from John, the movie also stars Sharvari, Abhishek Banerjee, Ashish Vidyarthi, Kumud Mishra, and Rajendra Chawla.
