Incredible news for the Joker fans almost five years after the Joaquin Phoenix starring critically and commercially acclaimed film Joker hit the threats finally the sequel of this Oscar-nominated film is on board. On Tuesday, Warner Bros. Discovery and the film’s cast and crew — including Lady Gaga and director Todd Phillips shared the first glimpse of the poster of this upcoming sequel In the poster the actors were seen is on the DC characters of Joker and Harley Quinn. The poster also revealed the release date and the message that “the world is a stage” with the evil couple dancing in a blue-hued room in their infamous clown makeup.
Joker: Folie À Deux will release on October 2024
As per the poster of the show, this much-anticipated movie will hit the theatres in October of 2024. The “Bad Romance” singer wrote in the Instagram post about the film, “The world is a stage. Joker: Folie à Deux trailer coming April 9. 🃏.”
The 38-year-old singer first announced to be joining the cast in August 2022, months before they were first spotted filming in and around New York City.
Although the release date of the movie is yet to be announced.
More About the film
The story of the movie revolves around Batman’s nemesis, Arthur Fleck, as he turned from comedian to villain. Moreover, the DC Comics will also follow the love of Joker and Harley Quinn.
As per the story of the comics, Joker becomes a patient at the Arkham Asylum after his arrest and put under the care of Dr. Harleen Quinzel. Later on, the antagonist slowly turns Quinzel into evil as he eventually pushes her into a vat of chemicals by making her bleach her skin and driving her mad.
Talking about the cast of the movie, Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role as Joker while Lady Gaga joins the cast as Harley Quinn aka Dr. Harleen Quinzel Joker’s psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, Zazie Beets also returns as Sophie Dumond, moreover, newcomers include The Banshees of Inisherin star Steve Coogan, Brendan Gleeson, and Catherine Keener, also revealed to be casted in an undisclosed role.
As for the location, it was mostly filmed in New York City and surrounding areas in the winter and spring of last year.
