The trailer begins with the glimpse of a dystopian society that is set in the city of Kashi in Varanasi which is also the last city left in the world. After Saswata Chatterjee’s evil ruler starts creating havoc in the city the philosophers started hoping for the entry of a godsend power to rescue them. Later on, Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama, son of Dronacharya who is a prominent warrior of Maharabharata cursed by Lord Krishna to be immortal till the end of Kali Yug, predicts that a new force of power is imminent, and is growing in the womb of Padma (Deepika Padukone).
Meanwhile, the characters of Disha Patani combating Prabhas, and Kamal Haasan in an unrecognizable bald avatar announce the beginning of a new era at the end of the trailer.
The makers unveiled the teaser of Amitabh Bachchan’s look from the sci-fi thriller during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) last month.
In the 21 second clip, a young kid was seen asking Big B, “Kya tum bhagwan ho, kya tum marr nahi sakte? Tum Bhagwan ho? Kaun ho Tum?” (Are you God? Are you immortal? Who are you?), to which his character wrapped in bandages from head to toe replied, “Dwapar yug se Dash avatar ki pratiksha kar raha hoon main, Dronacharya ka putra Ashwatthama.” (Since the Dwapar Yug, I have waited for the Dasavatar.) Meanwhile, the glimpse of a younger AI-created version of Ashwatthama was also spotted in the promo.
Simultaneously, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone’s look teaser was also released.
The story of the movie spans decades, starting from the events of the Mahabharata in the year 3102 BC marking the beginning of Kali Yug to 2898 AD supposedly the end of the Kali Yug. The central character of this thriller is Kalki, the tenth and final avatar of the great Hindu deity Lord Vishnu.
