Kareena Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana are reportedly going to star together in Meghna Gulzar’s next project. As per an exclusive report by Pinkvilla, Gulzar’s next which will be based on a real life incident will star Kareena Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana as main leads. Gulzar who is known for his acclaimed works Talvar, Raazi, Chhapaak has gained immense praise for her last directorial Sam Bahadur, starring Vicky Kaushal in the titular role. However, neither the director nor the actors have confirmed the news. Let’s check out what the source has revealed.

The source revealed that Meghna is looking to take the film on floors by the end of 2024

According to the reports of Pinkvilla, the source has noted, “Meghna has done all her research on the subject through the last few years and had a strong source material on place for her screenplay. She was moved by all that happened. Kareena and Ayushmann resonated with the emotions and are looking forward to team up on this special project.”

“Meghna is looking to take the film on floors by the end of 2024. It will arrive in the cinema halls in 2025,” the source added. The report claimed that while both the actors have agreed to do the film “in principle,” it continued. Moreover, the reports stated that the paperworks of the film will be finalised within a week.

This project would not be the first time Ayushmann and Kareena share screen together but also marked Meghna’s first with both actors.

Needless to say, Meghna has mastered the making of films based on real-life incidents as her last four highly acclaimed directorials have been inspired by real-life events. Beginning with Talvar in 2015,  starring Irrfan Khan and Konkana Sen Sharma was based on the 2008 Noida double murder case, adapted from Avirook Sen’s book Aarushi. The next 2018’s blockbuster spy thriller Raazi, starring Alia Bhatt, was an adaptation of Harinder Singh Sakka’s biography Calling Sehmat which is also reportedly based on real events. Later, her 2020 film Chhapaak, starring Deepika Padukone, was a biopic of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Nonetheless most recently, the highly acclaimed film Sam Bahadur starring Vicky Kaushal is the true story focused on the life of former Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw.

As for the actor, Ayushmann is going to star with Sara Ali Khan for an upcoming action comedy. Meanwhile, Kareena will be next featuring in Singham Again and Buckingham Murders.
