The government of Karnataka takes a drastic step against the Bollywood film ‘Hamare Baarah’ for at least two weeks or until the next order. The court stated that due to the film’s tendency to raise communal tension, it should not be shown on the big screen. The decision of the state’s Congress government has been taken under sections of the Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) Act, 1964, at the request of several minority organizations and delegations after watching the trailer of the film.

Previously, the Bombay High Court also ordered an injunction on the release of the film as it imposed a stay two days before its release. The court asked the respondents to build a committee with three members, including at least one Muslim member in order to provide their report after watching the movie. Moreover, the committee needs to be fully focused on the theme of the movie and the claims made in the petition.

The film features prominent Bollywood actors Annu Kapoor, Manoj Joshi, Paritosh Tripathi and Parth Samthaan. Let’s delve into some more details about this film.

‘Humare Baarah’ has hit the theatres on June 7th

The movie which was earlier titled ‘Hum Do Humare Baraah’, was retitled by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). As for the reason for making changes the makers of the film revealed in a statement,”The film, which was initially titled ‘Hum Do Humare Baraah’, has been retitled as per the directive of the Censor Board and will now be known as ‘Humare Baarah’. The movie is set to release on the big screen on June 7th.”

Meanwhile, actor Manoj Joshi also shared his views on the controversy surrounding the film noting that it isn’t intended to hurt any religious sentiments.

Joshi told ANI, “I am an artist, I have done this film, but some people have opposed it. I am specifically saying that this movie was not made to target any religion. Today, there are discussions about the respect of women in our country. In any society, there should be no disrespect to women. A woman is not an object or a thing; she should be respected, as has been happening in this land of India. Secondly, that film talks about various topics such as education, upbringing, employment, women’s respect and empowerment, and population. So, everyone should watch this film with their families.”

The film is helmed by Kamal Chandra and Radhika G. Film & Newtech Media Entertainment has served as the producer, while Ravi S Gupta, Birender Bhagat, Sanjay Nagpal, and Sheo Balak Singh are credited as producers, with Triloki Prasadh has taken the gig of co-producers.
