After Katy Perry’s exit from the popular singing reality show American Idol Carrie Underwood is ready to refill her chair as the judge of the popular show. As per multiple sources, Underwood would be joining Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan in the 25th season of the show. However, it isn’t her first time on the stage of American Idol, as she previously appeared as a guest mentor on the show. It will be a full circle for her as she herself has been the champion of the show’s season four in 2005 beating out Bo Bice in the finale. Carrie Underwood said American Idol had launched her career
The Oklahoma native who will soon grace the prestigious judge’s chair previously credited the reality show as the key to her success.
In 2022, during her appearance on the Must Watch Show, she shared, “I learned a lot, I learned an insane amount. And so much of that is still applied today, it still holds true to what I do now. It was star boot camp and I was trying to soak in as much as I possibly could and, obviously, it launched my career.”
Months before the announcement in an interview with E-news, Katy also addressed her replacement on the show.
“I gotta say Jelly Roll was crazy when he came on the show,” Perry told the entertainment portal.”I was convinced at anything he said. He could run for president, he could be my pastor, I might go back to church for him. He could sell me anything.”
“So I love him,” the songstress continued. “And to have any of these guys plus Jelly on the show would be amazing. I love you, Jelly!”
As for who takes on her role she shared honest advice. “I want a truth teller,” she noted. “I want someone that is not afraid to tell the truth in a graceful way.”
Moreover, Katy also talked about the backlash she faced during her tenure.
“Unfortunately, when you’re a woman and you have an opinion or you’re a boss,” the “Roar” singer told, “sometimes you’re also considered a B-I-T-C-[H]…so just someone that has a strong sense of self, that listens to their intuition.”
