Lizzo is not quitting music. The “Truth Hurts” singer shared a cryptic Instagram post in her Instagram story about quitting. However, days after the incident she finally posted an Instagram video to clarify her comment. On March 29, she posted a story that read, “All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.”
However, the line that highlighted the most in the post is where she said, “I didn’t sign up for this s–t. I quit.” Let’s find out what clarification she gave about the statement.
Lizzo said she is going to keep being herself
The 35-year-old said in the April 2 video, “I want to make this video because I just need to clarify when I say, ‘I quit,’ I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention. What I’m not going to quit, is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting to people—because I know I’m not alone.”
The singer made the announcement in a bright blue one-piece swimsuit from her brand Yitty with a matching eyeshadow. Moreover, she completed her look with light beachy curls indicating she was continuing her music career for her fans.
“In no way shape or form am I the only person who is experiencing that negative voice that seems to be louder than the positive,” Lizzo (real name Melissa Viviane Jefferson) continued. “If I could just give one person the inspiration or motivation to stand up for themselves and say they quit letting negative people win, negative comments win, then I’ve done even more than I could’ve hoped for.”
Earlier she made the comment about quitting after facing allegations from three former dancers that she creates an”abusive work environment.”
The trip filed a lawsuit against the singer on August 1, the suit document reads, “Plaintiffs were aghast with how little regard Lizzo showed for the bodily autonomy of her employees and those around her, especially in the presence of many people whom she employed.”
“I’m going to keep being me,” the singer concluded her video. “Once again I just want to say thank you for the love that I’ve received. It means more than you know.”
