Lizzo has a blast at the 2023 Grammy. The singer recalled the moment of getting so drunk with none other than Adele. At her recent appearance on the Elvis Duran Show and shared the fun moments. Both of the Grammy winners were sitting next to each other at the Los Angeles event. On top of that, the singer even won Record of the Year for “About Damn Time,” at the event beating Adele for “Easy on Me.”
Lizzo didn’t know she was sitting next to Adele
The 34-year-old said, “I had zero say in where I was sitting [at the GRAMMYs] but Adele had 100 percent say in where she was sitting. So, therefore, Adele FaceTimed me like when I was in GRAMMY rehearsal a few days before and she was like, ‘Oh my God, oh my God. We’re sitting next to each other.”
Moreover, she detailed, “Well, great because I wanted to sit next to you. I brought it for Adele and then I drank hers,”
She continues, “I legitimately was so drunk, like me and Adele were drinking so much we didn’t even really know what the categories were. At this point, like, we were like, ‘Did they do Best New Artist?’ We didn’t even know. And when it was time and they would call our names, we would just be like, ‘Smile, smile.'”
Therefore, the singer recalled her winning moment. She shared, ” So when they called my name I was actually in total shock because I didn’t even expect to win at all, let alone in a big [category].”
The “About Damn Time,” singer previously earned the award in 2020 for “Best Pop Solo Performance”, “Urban contemporary album” and “Traditional R&B Performance.” Moreover, apart from winning the “Record of the Year” this year she was also nominated in the ‘Best Album’ category.
