Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan is all set to make his silver screen debut with the upcoming film Maharaj. The film will hit Netflix on June 24. Alongwith, Junaid other film stars Jaideep Ahlawat. Moreover, actress Shalini Pandey with Sharvari Wagh in a guest appearance. On May 29, the makers of the upcoming film released the first look poster on Instagram, which also unveiled the release date. Let’s check out the complete details of this story.
Maharaj will release on June 24
Produced by Aditya Chopra under the YRF Entertainment banner, the film will be helmed by Siddharth P Malhotra.
On May 29, the debutant also shared the poster writing, “The fight for the truth between a powerful man and a fearless journalist. Based on true events – Maharaj is releasing on 14 June, only on Netflix!” read the caption alongside the post.
Junaid’s family members showered praises on the post, Junaid Khan’s mother, Reena Dutta, re-shared it to express her support and love. Whearwaa, his sister Ira Khan wrote, “Junnnnuuuuu,”with heart emojis.
Moreover, Zayed Khan commented, “Finally, congratulations brother. Can’t wait to see this one.” Actress Dia Mirza also penned, “Yayyyyy.” Shruti Haasan penned, “Yay! Can’t wait.”
Set in 1862, the film is set on the time when there were only three universities in India. The film’s official logline reads, “Rabindranath Tagore is a year old and the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857 continues to fan the flames of independence. Against all odds, one man takes a courageous stand in a landmark legal battle, a true story that’s now come to light in Maharaj more than 160 years later.”
On June 14, Netflix and Yash Raj Films showcased Karsandas Mulji’s acts of bravery in ‘Maharaj.’ Revolving on the libel case, fans are immensely excited for Junaid Khan’s acting debut.
The story focuses on journalist and social reformer Mulji. He was the pioneer for women’s rights and social reform. He was a student at Elphinstone College in Mumbai and a protégé of the scholar-leader Dadabhai Naoroji. Moreover, he wrote on widow remarriage and also stood up for the oppressed with the aim of sowing the seeds of reform in society.
For now, the fans have to wait till June 24 to finally witness it on-screen.
