Mark Ruffalo is the ultimate adorable co-star ever. On Thursday, the actor who attended the 2024 National Board Of Review Awards Gala in New York City praised his ’13 Going on 30’s co-star Jennifer Garner ahead of the film’s 20th anniversary. During a conversation with Entertainment Tonight at the event’s red carpet the actor talked about the classic. Keep reading to learn more about the story.
Mark Ruffalo said his wonderful chemistry with Garner hooked him in the film
The 56-year-old said of the film, “It was my first kind of studio film and, you know, I’d been doing pretty small indies up to that point and Gary Winnick, our director, said ‘I want to — I want to do a small indie but in a rom-com studio film.”’
Later on, he praised his co-star saying, “It was Jen Garner, who is just magical, and we had just a wonderful chemistry together,”
’13 Going on 30’s was released in 2004 and later became an instant classic for Ruffalo and Garner’s incredible chemistry. The film even played a major role in boosting the duo’s career which the Poor Things actor also accepted.
“I think people started to see me in a lot more different kinds of elevated roles than what I’d been playing up to that time,” he noted.
Talking about the iconic moment between the movie’s characters Ruffalo said, “Probably the Razzle scene on the, out on the swings in the park. Yeah, beautiful, sweet scene.”
The actors also worked together in the 2022 film The Adam Project. While promoting the film Garner dropped a photo of her and Ruffalo recreating a scene from the romcom and captioned the post, “13 Going on 30 Reunion, aka #TheAdamProject, is out Friday on @netflix. ♥️.”
For now, the actors are eagerly waiting for a reunion since the actor previously noted, “We did 13 Going on 30, went on and had lives, families, and kids and all kinds of other stuff, and came back and it’s like, ‘Wow. what a journey we’ve taken,’ and here we are.”
“It was so lovely,” the actress also gushed. “It was really comforting to be together again, and I don’t think either of us realized how much we needed it and how great we feel.”
