Here are the complete details about the interview of Yeoh.
Michelle Yeoh revealed the reason she assumed herself as such a failure
The Oscar winner told in the interview, “I always wanted to have children, I went and did fertility [treatments] to aid in the process. I think that’s the worst moment to go through is every month. You feel like such a failure.”
However, over the years she has finally come terms with her body and accepted the hard truth.
Yeoh noted, “At some point, you stop blaming yourself, There are certain things in your body that don’t function in a certain way. That’s how it is. You just have to let go and move on. I think you come to a point where you have to stop blaming you.”
In fact, her first marriage to Dickson Poon failed because she couldn’t have children.
Despite the heartbreaking break-up with Dickson Michelle, who tied the knot with Jean Todt in 2023 after a 19-year courtship, don’t blame her ex-husband as she knows how things might have been for him too.
“These are conversations that you really have to have with yourself and be able to look ahead and think, ‘Yes, we love each other very much now,'” she noted. “‘But in 10 years or 20 years, I still can’t give him the family that he craves.’ You have to be fair.”
Later on, the 62-year-old continues, “This dialogue between a couple is so important, If one wants [children] and the other doesn’t, this is something you have to face right at the beginning. Because along the way, there will be a lot of hurt and difficult times. So, I think it was very brave on our path to admit and to say, ‘OK, let’s not drag this out because that’s what we’re doing.’”
Amidst the personal struggle, her professional life became quite prosperous over the years as she won Best Actress in the 95th Academy Awards for her performance in the 2022 movie Everything Everywhere All at Once.
For now, Michelle is going to star in the upcoming movie Wicked, releasing on November 22, alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
