Miley Cyrus is looking back at the house fire that changed her life forever. The “Flower” singer and her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth owned a house in Malibu, California which burned down in a 2018 wildfire. In the new instalment of her Used to Be Young series on TikTok, the former Disney alum shared some rare insights about her personal life. Let’s dig into the details.
Miley Cyrus said The house ended up really changing my life
The 30-year-old revealed she was first introduced to the resident while recording her first single Meet Miley Cyrus. However, she didn’t have any idea that the house would become a huge part of her life after 15 years.
The “Use to Be Young” singer said, “The Meet Miley Cyrus record was really where I started writing my own songs as a solo artist, and so I was working with a producer in Malibu that lived in a house in Ramirez Canyon, which I would’ve never known 15 years later I would be living in that house, which would eventually burn down.”
Moreover, Miley added, “That house had so much magic to it. It ended up really changing my life.”
Cyrus and the Hunger Games alum lived in the house till the wildfire destroyed it. As per the reports the singer was out of town for shooting while the 33-year-old actor was at home and rescued their pets.
At that time the former couple also issued a statement about that unfortunate incident. “Miley and Liam lost their home but are very grateful to be safe along with their animals!” the statement said. “Their community and state are very special to them and they want to give back to the place that has created so many beautiful memories for themselves and others. They are donating $500,000 to The Malibu Foundation through Miley’s charity, Happy Hippie, in hopes of restoring Malibu’s magic.”
