Actress Harshita Gaur who played the role of Dimpy in ‘Mirzapur’ revealed the reason she initially backed off from the movie. In an interview with IndiaToday.in, the actor whom we can see as the sister of Guddu and Bablu Bhaiya in the series was about rejecting entering in the OTT space with this Prime Video series. Gaur became a popular face of television after her successful daily scope ‘Sadda Haq.’ Let’s check out what she had said about the most popular crime thriller.

Harshita Gaur said she didn’t want to be anyone’s sister

Harshita said of her casting process, “When Mirzapur came, it was one of those first OTT shows. And, at that time, I did not understand the concept of characters. I had said no to the show when the first call came to me. Then, I was not aware of the OTT concept and the only thing that we knew was TV and films. Because I was quite young and had done a show where I was the protagonist, I thought ‘I don’t want to be anyone’s sister’ in any show now.”

She continued, “You don’t know, because it is OTT that made the characters the way they are. Today, we vouch for characters and people are attached to them. Now, OTT is not just about two people. The audience in today’s time is intrigued by the characters which the platform has taught us.”

As for the reason of initially declining the opportunity she noted, “When I had to make that decision, I obviously, in my immature state, said that ‘I would not do it’, so the makers said ‘ok, come meet us and then you see you want to do it or not.’ When I went, it felt so good. They did not try to sell me the script, but there was a gun sequence in Season 1 which made me feel really good. Later, the show blew up and how. My posters were everywhere, and the entire town was painted with ‘Mirzapur’ posters. I saw my face on the hoardings and that feeling was something else.”

Needless to say, Harshita’s decision to stay on the series is one hundred percent right since it’s among a few Indian web shows that enjoy a cult following.

As for now, the new season of Mirzapur is all set to hit our screen on July 5th.
