Disney’s popular film Moana’s Part Two is finally out now. After several teasers, the trailer of this highly acclaimed animated movie was released on Wednesday, May 29. Showing some new gimples of Moana and Maui’s new adventure the studio has also confirmed that both Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson will return in their respective voice roles. Let’s find out what is there in the trailer of the much-awaited Disney movie.
Moana 2 will sail into the theaters on Nov. 27
“This is a call from the ancestors,” Moana said in the trailer. “To sail to new skies and reconnect our people across the entire ocean.”
In the beginning scene, Moana is seen to move away from her home of Motonui, waved off by the entire village including her parents, who are holding a child in their arms.
Moreover, at the end of the trailer, Maui shifts his way back to Moana’s boat and delivers his signature call to surprise her.
In February of this year, Bob Iger, the CEO of the Walt Disney Company announced the feature-length sequel to the Oscar-nominated animated film in a press release at the time
“Moana remains an incredibly popular franchise,” Iger said, “and we can’t wait to give you more of Moana and Maui when Moana 2 comes to theaters this November.”
Moreover, the press release describes the sequel’s storyline as: “Moana 2 takes audiences on an expansive new voyage with Moana, Maui, and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.”
Directed by Dave Derrick Jr with music by GRAMMY winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear this sequel is undoubtedly going to be grand.
In April 2023, Dwayne Johnson who features as Maui’s voice also confirmed a live-action Moana is also coming on board. However, Auli’i Cravalho later revealed that she’ll not be a part of it.
“I’m deeply humbled and overcome with gratitude to bring the beautiful story of Moana to the live-action big screen,” Johnson said of the movie. “This story is my culture, and this story is emblematic of our people’s grace and warrior strength. I wear this culture proudly on my skin and in my soul, and this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reunite with Maui, inspired by the mana and spirit of my late grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia, is one that runs very deep for me.”
