The Mufasa: The Lion King’s trailer is finally out now. Director Barry Jenkins’ in this prequel film of the blockbuster Disney movie The ‘Lion King’ singer Beyoncé and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter will star as mother and daughter. Queen Bey will reprise her role as Nala, the wife of Simba and daughter-in-law of Mufasa while Blue Ivy will voice Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala. Moreover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and Donald Glover will also reprise their roles as Pumbaa, Timon, and Simba. Let’s check out the complete details of this story.
Mufasa: The Lion King will be released on December 20, 2024
In the trailer, it can be seen that actor Aaron Pierre is set to voice Mufasa, while Anika Noni Rose and Keith David will voice his parents, Afia and Masego. As for the upcoming prequel’s plot, Disney announced that Rafiki, once again voiced by John Kani will share the story of orphaned cub Mufasa with his granddaughter, Kiara. Following the story of the late king he will cross paths with lion prince Taka (Kelvin Harrison Jr.), who takes Mufasa in as a brother. Those who don’t know Taka is none other than Scar.
The press release of the movie reads The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny—their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.”
Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also included in Disney credits Encanto and Moana, will also join the Lion King songwriters by working on the film.

The Lion King has an incredible musical legacy with music from some of the greatest songwriters around, and I’m humbled and proud to be a part of it,” Lin said in a statement. “It’s been a joy working alongside Barry Jenkins to bring Mufasa’s story to life, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience this film in theaters.”
When the prequel was first announced, Jenkins who voices Mufasa said, “Having the opportunity to work with Disney on expanding this magnificent tale of friendship, love and legacy while furthering my work chronicling the lives and souls of folk within the African diaspora is a dream come true.”
Mufasa: The Lion King will hit the theatres on Dec. 20, 2024.
