Nicole Kidman announced the devastating loss of her mother Janelle Ann Kidman. The Oscar winner who recently attended the Venice Film Festival shared the sorrowful news on September 6 via a statement at the stage of the prestigious event. Kidman’s movie Babygirl’s director Halina Rejn read the statement while accepting the star’s award for Best Actress on her behalf. Janelle was 84 years old at the time of her death. Nicole Kidman left the Venice Film Festival to be with her family
Nicole’s statement noted, “Today, I arrived in Venice to find out shortly after, that my beautiful, brave mother Janelle Ann Kidman has just passed. I am in shock and I have to go to my family.”
Halina who read the statement continues, “But this award is for her. She shaped me, she guided me and she made me. I’m beyond grateful that I that I get to say her name to all of you through Halina. The collision of life and art is heartbreaking, and my heart is broken.”
However, the cause of death is still not revealed.
Late Janelle who was 84 years old at the time of her death has suffered numerous health complications throughout the years, even her Oscar Winning daughter has to move in with her back in 2022 due the complications.
The 57-year-old said at that time to NPR, “We’re down here primarily to take care of my mother. and to have her surrounded by her grandchildren.”
Nicole also shared that her family even visited the Art Gallery of New South Wales together despite the fear of omicron, adding, “Even though [the] omicron [variant] is raging through this country, we were able to take her into the gallery after hours and show her the Matisse exhibit which coming from a mother who’s raised me in the arts, it was soothing balm.”
The Big Little Lies star continues,”I’m at the place where I’m being given the chance to view the world—because of how close we are, my mom is giving me the chance to view the world through an 81-year-old woman’s eyes. That is so beneficial right now because she’s so cognizant. She has every faculty, brain faculty, available. She hasn’t lost anything. She hasn’t lost any memory, which is fascinating.”
Apart from Nicole the decrease also shared six kids including actress Antonia Kidman with psychologist Antony Kidman who passed away in 2014 at the age of 75.
