Panchayat Actor Durgesh Kumar who is gaining a lot of love from the audience for his role as Bhushan from the Amazon Prime series revealed his path to success isn’t as smooth as it seems. In a recent interview with Lallantop while recalling his struggling days he revealed to have suffered depression twice in 11 years. Moreover, he also revealed how Panchayat played a pivotal role in his career. Let’s check out the complete details of this interview.
Durgesh Kumar has suffered depression twice in 11 years
Reflecting on his struggling days the actor noted, “You need to be prepared psychologically, physically, mentally, emotionally and economically to be an actor. I have suffered depression twice in 11 years. Unless you are not psychologically, economically and mentally healthy, please don’t come in the acting field. I am being brutally honest about it.”
Moreover, he also opened up about the tough conditions an outsider will face in the industry. He said, “This is no place to try. This place is filled with crazy people. All the successful people you see today, including Manoj Bajpayee and Pankaj Tripahti, who were my seniors at the National School of Drama or even Nawazuddin Siddiqui, they are all half crazy people, nobody discloses this.”
He continues,”When I first came to Versova on May 28, 2016, I made a few friends from Madhya Pradesh Drama School. We decided to get into the industry at any cost. We found Neeraj Singh and Gaurav Singh of Prithvi, we made Aram Nagar our adda. We started knocking on the doors of every casting director, I fell at their feet to cast me in some role. All this, after having done Highway, Freaky Ali, and Sultan,”
Durgesh Kumar’s character first appeared in the second season of Panchayat. The actor is also named as the Banrakas in the series. As for His character of Bhushan, he aspires to be the pradhan and always attempts to overthrow the existing pradhan (played by Raghubir Yadav).
Prior to the breakthrough, the actor made his debut in Imtiaz Ali’s Highway. Moreover, he also acted in blockbuster films like Sultan, Freaky Ali, Dhadak, janpath Kiss. Recently, he was seen in another blockbuster film like Laapataa Ladies and Bhakshak. Apart from Durgesh the popular series also includes Raghubir Yadav, Chandan Roy, Faisal Malik, and Ashok Pathak, among others.
