The 6th day of Paris Olympics 2024 has been a magnificent one for some countries. With a blend of victory and heartbreak Indian athletes have made their mark on the prestigious event. Rifle shooter Swapnil Kusale makes the country proud by bringing home 3rd medal in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3P) which is also the third medal in shooting for India. However, medal favourites boxer Nikhat Zareen and the badminton duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty alongwith medalist PV Sindhu face bid their farewell from the game. Here are the highlights of the sixth day of the quadrennial event.
Hockey
Also regarded as the national sport of India, the country’s position in this field of Paris Olympics 2024 is quite impressive. After an interesting clash with Belgium, India slipped them out in a 2-1 as Abhishek (18′) netted the lone goal for India, while Thibeau Stockbroekx (33′) and John-John Dohmen (44′) scored for Belgium. With this cheerful victory India currently placed third in the standings with seven points.
Archery

Boxing
In boxing it was also not India’s day as in 50kg round debutant Nikhat Zareen who is one of the biggest meddle of the country lost to China’s Asian Games gold medallist Wu Yu of 16 making an unexpected exit from the prestigious game.
Shooting
India’s Swapnil Kusale created history with a bronze medal in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3P), becoming the first Indian male to achieve this milestone.

Race Walking
Indian runners Vikash Singh and Paramjeet Singh Bisht ended their journey at 30th and 37th in the men’s 20km race walk. Moreover, national record holder Akshdeep Singh also failed to finish the race after withdrawing at 6 Kilometres.
In the women’s 20km race walk, things weren’t that good as Priyanka Goswami reached 41st place with a time of 1:39:55.
Sailing
Vishnu Saravanan of India finished 10th in the first race and 34th in the second of the men’s dinghy competition. In the women’s team, Nethra Kumanan ended up sixth in the first race.
Badminton
India’s result is quite contradictory in this sport as Lakshya Sen sealed his place into the quarterfinals of the men’s singles winning against compatriot H.S. Prannoy with 21-12, 21-6 in just 39 minutes.
Meanwhile, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shett faced disappointment in the quarterfinals after a heart wrenching defeat against the World No. 3 Malaysian duo Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.
