After a hard time on day 6, India is trying to regain their position on day 7 of the Paris Olympics 2024. Shuttler Lakshya Sen created a glorified history by reaching the Olympic semifinals becoming the first Indian male to do so. After securing two bronze medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics, shooter Manu Bhaker is heading towards another milestone after reaching the final of the 25m Pistol women’s competition.
However, Asian Games medalist Esha Singh’s journey ended in the 18th poison after a score of 581-17x.
Meanwhile, in the men’s game, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka currently holds the 26th position with a score of 68. The shooter is getting ready for the fourth and fifth rounds taking place on Saturday.
Badminton
After bidding farewell to PV Sindhu, Indian Badminton witnessed a historical event after Lakshya Sen became the first Indian male to reach the Olympic semifinals with his magnificent victory against Chou Tien Chen 19-21, 21-15, 21-12.
Archery
India faced a huge heartbreak in archery after Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara failed to defeat USA’s Casey Kaufhold and Brady Ellison for the bronze medal match of the mixed team event 2-6.
Hockey
India men’s hockey team defeated Australia to a 3-2 victory at Yves-du-Manoir Stadium making a historic comeback since 1972. After scoring 10 points for five matches, India now holds the second place in Pool B and is heading towards the quarterfinals on Sunday.
Judo
India’s lone Judoka Tulika Maan faced an early heartbreak at the Paris Olympics in 2024 in the women’s +78kg. With a disappointing defeat of 0-10, she concluded her journey in the round of 32.
Rowing
Finishing fifth in Final D of the men’s singles sculls Balraj Panwar’s journey ended in a 23rd place overall in his Olympic debut.
Sailing
Placed 20th in the third race and 19th in the fourth India’s Vishnu Saravanan currently holds the overall ranking of 22nd with 49 net points.
Meanwhile, in the women’s event, Nethra Kumanan placed 15th in the second race and 27th in the fourth, Kumanan has an overall rank of 11th with 21 net points.
Golf
Debutant golfers Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar hold a decent position in the Olympics. Sharma completed the 18-hole course in 69 shots and Gaganjeet scored 69 after posting a 75 in the first round.
Athletics
India’s Parul Chaudhary finished with an overall 24th rank despite delivering her season-best 15:10.68 in just 0.33 seconds. Moreover, Ankita Dhyani also placed out of the quarterfinals with a time of 16:19.38, finishing at 40th overall ranking.
