Prince Harry finally breaks silence on dad Charles III’s cancer diagnosis. The second son of the monarch and his late ex-wife Diana, Princess of Wales who has been estranged from the royal family visited his father last week right after the news was announced. Prince Harry said he went to see him as soon as he could
The 39-year-old royal said in the show, “I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”
The Prince moreover said, “Throughout all these families I see it on a day-to-day basis the strength of the family unit coming together, I think any illness, any sickness brings families together.”
Harry who along with his wife Meghan Markel is currently visiting the site of next year’s Invictus Games in Whistler, Canada declined to share more details about his rendezvous, noting, “That stays between me and him.”
The Duke’s comments came days after the 75-year-old monarch shared his gratitude for the outpouring of support and well wishes from his well-wishers.
On February 10, the king’s message is shared on the Royal family’s Instagram page, noted, “I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days, As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.”
The statement continued, “It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organizations which support cancer patients and their families across the U.K. and wider world. My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience.”
Prior to the Sussex royal, his brother Prince William, Prince of Wales also spoke about the love and well-wishes his father and wife Kate Middleton, who also underwent abdominal surgery following their condition.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you also for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days,” the prince said during London’s Air Ambulance Charity Gala Dinner on Feb. 7. “It means a great deal to us all.”
