Prince William is always there for his father King Charles. On February 7 at London’s Air Ambulance Charity Gala Dinner, the eldest son of the monarch and his late ex-wife Diana, Princess of Wales acknowledged the well-wishers for their massages for his father and his wife Kate Middleton’s respective medical conditions. The Prince said the good wishes mean a great deal to us all
The 41-year-old said at the London’s Air Ambulance Charity Gala Dinner, “I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you also for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all.”
Moreover, the Prince jokes, “It’s fair to say the past few weeks have had a rather ‘medical’ focus, so I thought I’d come to an air ambulance function to get away from it all!”
The event marked the first public appearance of the Prince of Wales since taking a little sabbatical from his royal engagements after the surgery or his wife.
The Princess underwent abdominal surgery on January 17 and was discharged 13 days after surgery.
Kensington said at the time, “She is making good progress, The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided. The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.”
As for the King’s cancer diagnosis, it was first disclosed by Buckingham Palace two days before the Gala Dinner. The palace explained at the time that the king’s “recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”
“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments,” it continues, “during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.”
Days after the news announced a source confirmed the visit of The King’s youngest son Prince Harry who stepped down from royal duties in 2020. Harry and his wife Meghan Markel who is now settled in California with their kids Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2 last came to the United Kingdom last May during the King’s coronation.
