Robert Downey Jr does love his Fans 3000 as he is officially set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Though this time not as a life-saving Hero but as the new face of the Fantastic Four villain, Doctor Doom in ‘Avengers Doomsday’ which will be released in May 2026.

Robert Downey Jr has become the chosen one to play Dr. Doom. Marvel Studios and RDJ himself took to Instagram to announce the happy news which made the fans go blasted in emotions!
In the Marvel Studios Instagram post, they captioned the video “New mask, same task. Robert Downey Jr. surprises Hall H to announce his return to the MCU as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, in theaters May 2026. #SDCC”.
In the video of San Diego Comic-Con 2024, the Iron Man actor seemed to be in his goofy attitude where he removed his mask and green hoodie and announced himself as the iconic villain.

Soon after the Marvel Studios announcement Robert Downey Jr took his Instagram and posted a picture of himself and the Comecon Video in the iconic green hoodie and Dr. Doom’s mask in his hand captioning “ New Mask, Same Task”. Where the Russo Brothers quirkily commented, “We’ve always said green is your colour (sic)”.
The movie ‘Avengers Doomsday’ will be directed by the Russo Brothers and released in May 2026. In their official Instagram handle shared the poster of the movie with the caption,” Just announced in Hall H: The Russo Brothers return to direct Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Aside from this Marvel Studios surprised fans by announcing another venture “ Avengers Secret Wars” which will be released in May 2027. The MCU post captioned “ Just announced in Hall H: The Russo Brothers return to direct Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Secret Wars. Only in theaters May 2027. #SDCC”
Dr. Doom aka Victor Von Doom is one of the iconic supervillains of Creator Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby’s Marvel Comics Universe. The character first appeared in Fantastic Four 5 (1962). The Character of Dr. Doom will be very amazing to be portrayed by RDJ as Doom is considered a genius- intellect, superior, magical, and the king of the fictional nation of Latveria. He also thinks of himself as the person who is the savior of the world with his ruthless methods.
