Tennis legend Serena Williams candidly shared a body positivity message about her postpartum. The player who welcomed her second daughter Adira River with her husband Alexis Ohanian last August empowered fellow mothers to embrace the evolution of their bodies after giving birth. Serena said loving yourself is essential
The 42-year-old tennis icon shared a photo of herself in a bikini while cradling her 6-month-old baby girl along with a heartwarming message, “Loving yourself is essential. I find that I have to remind myself of that self-love through all different stages in my life.”
Moreover, the legend is happily embracing her imperfect body as she shared, “Right now I love that my body is not picture perfect, I love that I smell like milk—that milk sustains @adiraohanian. I love getting to know a new version of my body. It is a change, but it’s a change that has been well worth it.”
Williams concluded her post while reminding me, “So start this week. knowing that you are loved, and that starts with you.”
Serena who also shares daughter Olympia, 6, with the Reddit co-founder, was previously candid about her motherhood journey while sharing the ups and downs of her path, like when she used breastmilk to heal her skin.
On December 3, Serena said in her TikTok video caption, “After a week of using my breastmilk under my eye, it worked!”
She said, “I completely got burned under my eye, It works for my kid…They say put breastmilk on everything and I have extra, so I’m gonna try it for a week and see how it goes.”
However, like this, the player also shared insights on her mental health struggles last November on X (formally known as Twitter).
“I am not ok today,” she wrote on the platform. “And that’s ok to not be ok. No one is ok every single day. If you are not ok today I’m with you. There’s always tomorrow. Love you.”
Later on the same day, she posted a selfie of her and her baby girl Adira, writing, “This makes me so happy.”
