Sonu Nigam Shared His Excitement of Singing in Junaid Khan starrer ‘Maharaj’

Sonu Nigam who has recently given his magical voice for Aamir’s son Junaid Khan’s debut film ‘Maharaj.’ The singer has given his voice multiple times to Aamir’s multiple films  ‘Bum Bum Bole,’ and ‘Fanaa.’ The veteran playback singer has sung  the devotional song ‘Achutham Keshavam’ for the movie and the track which is currently receiving immense love from the audience. In an interview with IANS, Sonu Nigam opened up his experience and called it a memorable one. Recreated by Sohail Sen for the film Sonu Nigam was accompanied by Osman Mir for this song. Sonu Nigam called the song a memorable experience

“I truly value that I had this personal equation with Yash (Chopra) ji. Anything related to YRF is special to me,” singer added of the track, “I’m so glad that Achutham Keshavam happened for Maharaj. Singing for Aamir’s son’s debut and my friend Siddharth Malhotra’s directorial venture made it all the more memorable.”

About the film

The film’s official logline reads, “Rabindranath Tagore is a year old and the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857 continues to fan the flames of independence. Against all odds, one man takes a courageous stand in a landmark legal battle, a true story that’s now come to light in Maharaj more than 160 years later.”

Set in 1862, the film is set on the time when there were only three universities in India. The story revolves around the 1862 Maharaj Libel Case which is one of India’s most significant legal battles and highlights the life of social reformer Karsandas Mulji.

Apart from Junaid Khan the film also features Jaideep Ahlawat, actress Shalini Pandey with Sharvari Wagh in a guest appearance.

At the time of the film’s accontment debutant Junaid also shared the poster writing, “The fight for the truth between a powerful man and a fearless journalist. Based on true events – Maharaj is releasing on 14 June, only on Netflix!” read the caption alongside the post. 

Produced by Aditya Chopra under the YRF Entertainment banner, and the film will be helmed by  Siddharth P Malhotra who is also making her directorial debut. 

Recently after the success of the film production house YRF expressed its gratitude through an official statement, noting,“We are grateful to the judiciary for allowing the release of Maharaj, a film that celebrates one of the most important social reformers of our country, Karsandas Mulji. Yash Raj Films has a 50-year-old legacy of championing India, its stories, its people, culture and heritage. We have never produced a film that tarnished the reputation of our country or our countrymen.”
