Sadie Sink of Stranger Things reveals her plans to join Marvel and play a superhero in their universe.
With her appearance on Stranger Things as Maxine aka Max, Sadie Sink became a household name. The young actress now has a massive social media following and has proven her acting chops through the Netflix original show “Stranger Things”.
Sink recently opened up about joining the MCU and playing a Marvel superhero in their films in a recent interview. Stranger Things’ success made all of the show’s cast members, especially the kids, extremely popular around the world. Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLauglin, and Gaten Matarazzo, as well as Sadie Sink, have a global fan base. Returning to the subject, Sadie Sink of Stranger Things revealed in an interview with Pinkvilla that she would be joining the MCU and said, “Oh! This was something I noticed. I can, and I’m denying the rumours. They’re… That is not correct. (laughs) No, I’m aware of the rumours. I’m not sure where they came from. However, they are not true as of yet. (chuckles).”
When asked if she’d like to join Marvel and play a superhero, Sadie Sink responded, “Sure… Okay, I’ll take a look at this fanart. Sure, if the right superhero happens along. Who wouldn’t want to be a superhero?”
When asked which superhero she would like to play on screen, the Stranger Things actress replied, “I don’t know enough about it to know what superheroes are available right now.” How many are still alive? I’m not sure. But I’ll keep an eye out.”
This follows a report that Sink had joined the MCU, with the outlet speculating she would play Songbird, an anti-hero seen in many Thunderbolts iterations.
Will Sadie Sink join the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Sadie Sink’s answers about her potential role in the MCU may disappoint some fans, but she was diplomatic throughout. She’s doing a good job of playing coy. She could be serious and have no connection to anything Marvel-related at this time, or she could be concealing something that is not yet ready to be revealed.
The key phrase here is “for the time being, [the rumours] are not true.” This response leaves enough wiggle room that if it is announced that Sink has been hired by Marvel Studios, audiences will not be able to scoff. But it could also be an honest response.
Many people believe Sink would be a fantastic addition to the MCU. Giant Freakin Robot mentions Songbird as a possible character for the actress to play in their report. The one hero who fans keep returning to is Jean Grey.
Marvel Studios will soon require a group of new faces to join the franchise as Marvel’s marvellous Mutant team. Sink would be near-perfect casting for Jean if she were brought in as part of this initiative. It is currently unknown whether Sadie Sink will join the MCU. She can be seen in Netflix’s Stranger Things, which is currently streaming.
