Wo ‘Stree’ ab aa rahi haii ( Street is coming now). The sequo of the much-loved horror-comedy is finally on board. Fans have waited for so long since the first venture came out six years ago. Although the teaser isn’t available to the audience on social media yet, it was released directly in the theatres with ‘Munjya’. Helmed by Dinesh Vijan, the 2018 film is the first part of his supernatural universe. The makers also have assured the fans that ‘Stree 2’ will be funnier, scarier. Moreover, they believe it possesses all the elements to become one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. As for the teaser, ‘Stree’ is back with her chilling shriek and continues hunting down men like before. Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao and his friends, along with Shraddha, are back to win the hearts of the fans with their chemistry and hilarious comic timing.
The plotline of ‘Stree 2’
Based in an outdated fictional town of Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, ‘Stree’ revolves around the legend of a female ghost who abducts men during an annual four-day festival. The spirit who is called ‘Stree’, targets any lone men and calls their name thrice and after they look behind she casts her spell by abducting him and leaving behind only the clothes of her victims. To protect themselves from the vicious spirit, the townspeople believe that painting the words “O Stree, Kal Aana” (“Oh woman, come tomorrow”) on their walls can ward her off.
In the climax of 2018, Rajkummar and Shraddha seem to successfully rescue the victims and give the proper respect to the Stree’s spirit. However, things took an unexpected turn when Shraddha’s turned out to be an unnatural being as she leaves the town after the rescue operation got over leaving the audience stunned. Needless to say, after this cliff-hanging ending it would be extremely interesting to find out the truth of her identity.
As for the casting, it reprises the original cast comprising Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and others.
Backed by Maddock Films, ‘Stree 2’ will clash with some highly-anticipated big-budget films including Akshay Kumar’s ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2’ at the box office.
The film will hit the theatre on the auspicious Independence Day, August 15.
Needless to say, expectations are quite high on this sequel since the original film has gained immense love from the audience and critics earning a whopping Rs 129.90 crore in the domestic box-office.
