The life and journey of Taba Chake
Born in the beautiful city of Arunachal Pradesh, Chake got to know about music during the time of studying in a boarding school. From a teacher at his boarding school, the singer shaped musical talent. With his extreme aspiration towards music, he started writing songs just at the age of 11.
Interestingly he was born in the notable Nyishi tribe of the state where learned a lot of tribal music. The influence of this tribe’s folklore is quite remarkable in his every tune.
In fact, he is the first-ever singer from this tribe whose songs are on Spotify and iTunes. On top of that, he is also the first musician to use the Nyishi dialect in all of the songs appearing on streaming platforms all over the world.
The singer who speaks five languages including Nyishi, Hindi, English, Nepali, and Assamese has released his first EP Bond with Nature back in 2016.
Later in 2017, Chake won a scholarship to study music at the Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music in Chennai, however, ruled out of the course before graduating because of its theoretical nature.
Despite the release of his first album, he struggled to get a breakthrough until 2019. At this time he released his second 10-track album Bombay Dreams which includes songs in English, Hindi and Nyishi. Revolving around the themes of love, hope, unity, and positivity this album gained immense love from the audience with over 12.2 million streams across all platforms, and even placed at 12 on Apple Music’s All Genre Charts.
After this success there he hasn’t faced any pitfalls in his career followed by the release of his singles Blush (2020), Udd Chala (2023), Monot Pore (2023), and recently Kahani (2024).
