Taha Shah Badussha is currently gaining immense popularity for playing the role of Nawab Tajdar Baloch in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s OTT debut Netflix series ‘Heeramandi.” In an interview with Zoom, Taha took a stand for co-star Sharmin Segal who has been getting brutality trolled for her in the series. The actor believes the treatment she is receiving is ‘unfair’ and said that ‘people learn over time’. Let’s check out the complete details of this story.
Taha Shah Badussha said Sharmin Segal given her best as an actor
The actor said of his co-star, “Sharmin has only done two films, and her method involves keeping it subtle. Having worked with her, I know she’s given her best as an actor.”
Furthermore, he said, “I didn’t anticipate receiving this much love and appreciation for my role, hence the audience can be quite unpredictable to be honest. As far as Sharmin and her performance are concerned, I’ve literally lived with her on the sets. She was always punctual and tried to do her best.”
Taha also added, “How it comes off to the audience, is a different ball game and I can’t comment on them. But I know that she has got a great heart. She was always present on the set and, as an actor, that’s what you all need.”
Moreover, addressing the comparison between Sharmin and other actors he noted that,”Manisha ma’am has worked with the best of the best directors and the best of the best actors. People learn over time. If the audience has found fault in Sharmin, she will do even better. I know she wants to and is eager to learn.”
As for his own struggles, the actor also unveiled the obstacles he has faced before and after Heeramandi, Taha said, “I have been in the film industry for 14 years and I got nothing. In the last 5-6 years, I was getting 500-600 likes on my Instagram posts but one day, boom… I started getting likes in lakhs and lakhs. My Instagram is buzzing, every 2-3 minutes I am getting a message.”
Taha also said of making connections to get movies, “I accept it on camera I go to parties to make contacts. It didn’t help instantly, but now, everybody will pick up my call. I have tried to call casting directors and for six years they didn’t pick up my calls.”
He added, “I live on my calendar. If I had called a person, I would make sure I call him/her again after two weeks. I have thousands of names on my calendar. I would make 40 calls each day. Cold calling is the best discipline anybody should go through… I am desperate. You should be desperate. If you are not desperate in life, you will not get anything and I am a live example of the same.”
Needless to say, Taha’s hard work has paid off since he is getting so much love for his role.
‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazar’ is currently streaming on Netflix.
