Social media has been buzzing with conversations on rape culture, sexism and consent over the past few days. As we all know that how Instagram is making a bad impact on teenagers. Not even teenagers, grownups are also making it a bad platform, there is so much competition as well as hate on Instagram.
SPREADING HATE AGAINST COMMUNITY
Just because these teenagers don’t like someone’s opinion, they don’t wanna support that community (like LGBTQ) or just because they don’t agree in normalising that community doesn’t give them a right to abuse or bully their family or mock the whole community.
TRY TO UNDERSTAND THINGS AND BEHAVE LIKE A GROWNUP:
- This is normal if they are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer (LGBTQ) but people keep spreading hate, they just don’t know how to simply sit and enjoy their life. I’m really glad that I got a chance to raise my voice against this online bullying on Instagram.
- You know it can affect their mental health, this all can be really dangerous but these teenagers don’t understand how it can create a big mess and affect their future.
TEENAGERS ARE JUST MISUSING INSTAGRAM
We all know about Bois Locker Room, it was the Instagram private chat group in which teenage boys planned gang rape and made derogatory remarks on girls. Nearly 20 boys were part of the group in which they shared pictures of minor girls and commented on their body parts. The teenage boys were students of schools located in South Delhi.
I am sure that social media plays a role in unhappiness, but it has as many benefits as it does negatives.
The only way to make it a better platform is:
We need to teach children how to cope with all aspects of social media good and bad — to prepare them for an increasingly digitized world. There is a real danger in blaming the medium for the message.
