On August 21, Netflix took to social media to make the big announcement on the show’s arrival with a funny video featuring the show’s entire cast. Needless to say, fans are incredibly excited about the comeback of the popular show. However, they have to wait for a month longer to finally delve into the world of the stomach-aching comedy of Kapil Sharma and his gang. The Great Indian Kapil season 2 will start streaming on September 21
The online streaming platform announced the news on their social media with a video featuring host Kapil along with other casts including Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, and others.
The caption reads, “Ab shanivaar hoga “Funnyvaar” ‘cuz Kapil and gang are coming with double fun and hassi iss baar (Now Saturdays will be fun as Kapil and gang are coming with double the fun and laughter) 😍 Season 2 coming soon! Stay tuned.”
The show has conquered the hearts of the audience from its very 1st season and become one of the most viewed shows in India on Netflix. The first season marked the entry of numerous renowned celebrities especially international icon and Grammy-winning singer Ed Sheeran as well as Bollywood superstar Amir Khan marking his first-ever appearance at any comedy show.
Moreover, it also welcomed other Indian stars like Ranbir Kapoor who comes with his mother Neetu Kapoor, and sister Riddhia Kapoor, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirza, Badshah, Karthik Aryan, the entire cast of Heeramandi, DIVINE, Diljit Dosanjh, Imtiaz Ali, and Parineeti Chopra.
The first season debuted in March of this year and wrapped up in June. Later on, soon after the end of the first season, Kapil promised the fans to get back soon with the next season. Proving true to his words the show is finally returning for the next venture after two months.
Looking back at history, Kapil first introduced this idea of this sketch comedic celebrity talk show back in 2013 with the name of Comedy Nights with Kapil which aired till 2016 on Colors TV with a massive viewership. Later the show was shifted to Sony TV with the name of The Kapil Sharma Show which also gained immense popularity among the viewers, running successfully for 5 seasons till 2023.
