Shanna Moakler came in defense of her and ex-husband Travis Barker’s daughter Alabama’s rap career. 17-year-old Alabama was subjected to a lot of criticism after posting a snippet of an unreleased hip-hop track on her TikTok. Moreover, social media users started bashing her for copying the musical stylings of Latto and Ice Spice and also questioning her “accent.” On August 10, the former Miss USA defended her daughter in an interview with Page Six.
Shanna Moakler believes she and Travis Barker’s daughter’s very natural progression
The 48-year-old told the outlet that her daughter is going through a “very natural progression.”
“I think her rap career is amazing,” she said while explaining that her teen has “been in the studio with her father with the greatest musicians in the world.”
The beauty queen continued, “I think her father both understands the nature of the industry [and] that genre of music. I think there’s a real love for it, and I think there’s a deep respect for it as well. I know that they would never do anything without that respect.”
Moreover, she added, “They literally traveled the world numerous times over with some of the biggest musicians, rap artists, and hip-hop artists in the world, and [for Alabama’s] generation right now the highest genre of music is hip-hop and rap.”
Previously, Alabama spoke up against her desire to be a rapper. While in April a user questioned her for posting her music online, to which she responded, “Cause I don’t care what people think that have no motivation & talentless.”
Moreover, the 17-year-old also defended herself from the claims of nepotism. After a fan slammed the critics for “hating cause she has a famous dad,” she responded, “I swear.”
Later on, she captioned her post, “Make it as in music dont start with that bs again, anyways heres this.”
