In a recent conversation with the podcast “The Twilight Effect with Ashley Greene and Melanie Howe” Twilight: New Moon director Chris Weitz revealed that he repent for rejecting Taylor Swift in the film. According to the director, Swift also admitted to wanting to be a part of this film. But unfortunately, he rejects her request. However, It would have been great to see Taylor in this film.
Twilight director’s revelation on Taylor Swift’s rejection
In the recent conversation with the podcast “The Twilight Effect with Ashley Greene and Melanie Howe,” the 52-year-old unfolds a lot of facts about this famous franchise. He revealed that Swift’s agents at the time told her desire to be a part of the 2009 film.
“Taylor Swift was a huge Twi-hard, and Taylor Swift and I had the same agent at the time, and he said, ‘Taylor would like to be in this movie, not because of you, but she’s a Twi-hard,’” he said. According to him as a Twi-hard she is ready for a small cameo.
Unfortunately, he had to reject the Grammy winner because of her superstardom; it would be difficult for the audience to process the story. He confessed, “The hardest thing for me was to be like, the moment that Taylor Swift walks onto the screen, for about five minutes, nobody is going to be able to process anything.”
Later on, he said it is a decision he will repent forever, he had the best for the film. He added “She must have been like, ‘Who is this jerk?’ But sometimes you make decisions thinking this is for the best of the film.”
Moreover, he also admitted it was a great chance to be friends with this famous singer as he said, “I kick myself for it, too, because I was like, ‘Wow, I could’ve been hanging out with Taylor Swift. We could have been friends.’”(Variety, August 18, 2022)
For now, Swift joins the cast of David O. Russell’s Amsterdam, alongside Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington.
