On Thursday, Universal Pictures dropped the first teaser for Christoper Nolan’s latest film, Oppenheimer. The brilliant director previously directed Tenet in 2019. Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy as the main lead. He plays the role of J Robert Oppenheimer, one of the fathers of the atomic bomb and the director of the Manhattan Project. Before this, Murphy acted in five Nolan films.

As the clock ticks, Cillian Murphy puts on a hat and sets out to change the world, maybe not for the best. The cast of Oppenheimer is filled with the top stars in Hollywood. In addition to Murphy, the cast includes Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Alden Ehrenreich, David Krumholtz, Michael Angarano and Kenneth Branagh.

The film’s teaser was shown before Jordan Peele’s Nope, which is currently in theatres. Previously, Christopher Nolan did a similar theatrical-only release in August 2019 for the Tenet teaser. Tenet’s teaser played in front of Hobbs & Shaw screenings. Nolan wrote the script for Oppenheimer and also directed the film. Furthermore, his wife and creative partner, Emma Thomas produced the film, with Charles Roven of Atlas Entertainment. On Thursday, he unveiled the first poster for the film. The poster showed Cillian Murphy as Robert Oppenheimer, taking a walk in the cloud of fire and smoke.
The film is set to release on July 21, 2023. It is based on American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin. Published in 2005, the book won the Pulitzer Prize.
