Elphaba then explains to Glinda, “Something just takes over me. and when it does, bad things happen.”
On top of that, the look of Jonathan Bailey’s Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh’s Madame Morrible and Jeff Goldbum’s Wizard have also appeared in the trailer.
Moreover, in the first look of the Emerald City the voice of Grande and Erivo singing “Defying Gravity” can be heard in the background.
Previously during a Dec. 22 appearance on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Erivo shared her excitement of singing with Grande.
“I don’t know that we realized that our voices would fit so well together,” Cynthia shared. “Our voices are very, very different. But when we sing together, it just works.”
Meanwhile, hours after the promo aired, Vanity Fair released a first-look portrait of Grande and Erivo in character.
The Dangerous Woman singer called the characters’ bond “a really selfless love and friendship,” and, “They’re both each other’s first real friend, a person who accepts them for everything that they are.”
“Once they figure out that they’re actually different sides of the same coin, they see each other clearly,” Erivo also adds of the duo.
“We are all different and the same, and the differences that we have actually make us really special,” Cynthia shared.”Hopefully, we use those differences to introduce ourselves to one another. We aren’t pushing people away because they’re different, but we’re opening up because they’re special.”
