Will Smith tearfully reveals the reaction of his 9-year-old nephew to his Chris Rock Slap incident during the 2022 Oscars ceremony. The King Richard star looked back to his infamous controversial incident in a recent interview with Trevor Noah and opened up about his nephew’s reaction who stayed up late to watch his uncle win the Best Actor Award.
Will Smith had referred to the event as a ‘ Horrific Night’
On the Nov. 28 episode of The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Will shared his nephew’s reaction by saying, “We came home, and he had stayed up late to see his Uncle Will. We’re sitting in my kitchen, and he’s on my lap and he’s holding the Oscar. And he’s just like, ‘Why did you hit that man Uncle Will?'”
The 54-year-old alum went on further by defining the event as a ‘horrific night’. The actor also added by saying, ” You know, there are many nuances and, and complexities to it, but at the end of the day, I just lost it.”
Moreover, the Men in the black star had broken his silence in this controversial event in July by sharing a video of him answering the questions of the fan and also issuing a public apology to Chris.
However, the star also shares a message about his Daily show views by sharing his point of view quoting, “I guess what I would say is, you just never know what somebody’s going through. In the audience right now, you are sitting next to strangers, and somebody’s mother died last week. Somebody’s child is sick. Somebody just lost their job. Somebody just found out their spouse cheated.”
Will also explained many of the behind-the-shades stuff that led to this by saying, “There are all these things, and they’re strangers, and you just don’t know what is going on with people. And I was going through something that night. Not that that justifies my behavior at all. You are asking, ‘what did I learn?’ And it is that we just got to be nice to each other, man. Do you know? It’s hard.”
Moreover, it’s the Aladdin star’s first candid interview after the scandalous incident.
