Dev Patel helmed the internationally acclaimed movie Monkey Man is all set to hit the OTT. After a successful show run at the box office, the film is now going to stream on an online platform. As per the report of KOIMOI, the hit movie will begin to stream on the American video streaming platform Peacock TV. According to the news of the entertainment portal it will hit American video platforms on Friday June 14. Moreover, the good news for the fans waiting for the movie is it will also get an additional digital release three days prior, on June 11, 2024. Let’s check out some details about the film.
Monkey Man will release on June 14 in the OTT
Dev Patel’s first directorial venture earned immense international acclaim upon its theatrical release from both critics and the audience. Especially, the story’s plot, sociopolitical commentary and gripping action sequences were highly appreciated by the audience.
Patel also played the role of the main protagonist of the film along while the other cast includes Indian actors Sikandar Kher, Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Sobhita Dhulipala, Makarand Deshpande, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Adithi Kalkunte.
The synopsis of the film noted, “A young man ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he’s beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. After years of suppressed rage, he discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.”
Moreover, the ‘Slamdog Millionaire’ star also described the movie as his dream project noting inspired by the stories he heard in his childhood.
The movie’s commercial success and upliftment in the box office numbers went on to prove its popularity between the audience. The movie earned a whopping of $34.5 million upon its release across the globe with the production of a budget of $ 10 million.
However, the film is yet to theatres in India which is kept delayed, sparking rumors of getting it banned from India. For now, Indian fans have to wait for a long time since any official statement hasn’t come out yet.
